Sandy Castor's connection to Montclair's Town Council began when she worked with former Mayor Bob Russo on the Advance Montclair slate in 2000. Upon his election, she transitioned to service in the Mayor's office as a liaison to the public, helping with citizen complaints and managing his schedule.  Acting in this role with Russo and working with the rest of the Council planted the seeds of inspiration for her present Council candidacy.

Her campaign work also ignited her political passions. Her service with America Coming Together in 2004 led her to Jon Corzine's gubernatorial campaign in 2005 which then led  her to the campaign for One Community Votes in 2006. Even though this campaign work has kept her quite busy, she remains deeply involved in the  Montclair community through her management of the properties of which she is a co-owner.

Sandy is a lifetime resident of Montclair, born and raised. Daughter of Josette and Serge Castor and sister to MHS graduate Jeffrey Castor, she attended Mount Saint Dominic Academy and went on to Carnegie Mellon and Fordham Universities. Growing up in the Montclair community, she fondly remembers her days in the PRCA camps and weekend Arts and Music classes run by Montclair High School.
Currently working in the Business and Legal Affairs department for SONY BMG Music Entertainment, she is now poised and eager to apply herself to changing what she sees as the "business as usual" tone of the Town Council. Her goal is to work tirelessly to help preserve the "essence of Montclair" as the town moves forward. "A healthy future for Montclair depends on our embracing the traditional values of this community... a rich diversity and a commitment to unity."
